Boehner Calls for Quick Senate Action on Tax Relief for Families, Small Businesses

Jan 29, 2008

- Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) today issued the following statement on the economic growth package passed by the House today:

“Time is of the essence, and today’s strong vote in the House moves families and small businesses one step closer to the tax relief they sorely need.  This package will help get our economy moving in the quickest and most effective way possible: by putting money back in the pockets of American families and giving businesses incentives to create new jobs and grow our economy.  And equally as important, it will do so with no tax hikes and no new spending on government programs.  Rising costs of energy, health care, college, retirement, housing, and taxes have put a real strain on family budgets and bottom lines.  Families and small businesses should not have to wait any longer for the tax relief in this bill, and I urge the Senate to pass it as quickly as possible.”

Boehner represents Ohio’s 8th District, which includes all of Darke, Miami and Preble counties, most of Butler and Mercer counties, and the northeastern corner of Montgomery County.  He was first elected to Congress in 1990.
